1. Aspire to think about the solutions at local level which will support their country to achieve
Sustainable Development Goals targets.
2. Be able to make connections between the State, Nation and World as a family.
3. Gain knowledge about the Sustainable Development goal and status of their country.
What are Sustainable Development Goals?
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, were adopted by all United
Nations Member States in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and
ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030.
Steps for the activity
1. Form groups with 4-5 students in each group
2. Read carefully the graph given below and understand India’s performance on SDGs.
3. Select any 1 area of concern which you think is most important issue in India out of 13 areas
displayed below.
4. Try to distribute different areas for research work.
5. Imagine your group as “Group of Actizensin a worst performing state and find out reasons
and solutions for the same in your state.
For E.g.,
If you select “Zero Hunger”
Worst Performing State Jharkhand
Reasons Poverty, Illiteracy, Lack of Jobs, Lack of Govt schemes etc.
Possible Solutions
1. Roti Bank at different places to supply left over food to the needy people
2. Awareness for Govt. schemes to different sections of society
3. Identify the areas in the state where and check the status of Mid-Day meals in schools
4. Keep an eye on public distribution shops and inform the government departments
